The Indiana Fever front office continues to deliver positive news for the fans. After retaining the core part of their 2025 roster, the front office now plans to reunite the coaching staff with a South Carolina icon.

According to reporter Scott Agnes, the Indiana Fever are set to complete the signing of  27-year-old Tyasha Harris. Tyasha played for the Dallas Wings last season but only managed 5 appearances before sitting out the rest of the season due to a knee injury. Now fully recovered from the surgery on the left knee, Tyasha is on Fever’s radar.

The 27-year-old is known for her impressive college basketball career with South Carolina. Tyasha was a starter for the Gamecocks for over 3 years and left the program with the most assists (702) and appearances (139).

She won the National Championship under Dawn Staley in 2017 and was even awarded the Dawn Staley Award, a recognition for the best guard in the nation, in her senior year in 2020.

Entering the WNBA as the 7th pick in the 2020 draft, Tyasha spent three seasons with the Dallas Wings, failing to break into the starting five. Her best years came with the Connecticut Sun under current Indiana head coach Stephanie White, with her 2024 season a true breakout campaign for the guard.

Hoping to become a more prominent member of the Dallas Wings roster in 2025 after a four-team trade, a knee injury required surgery, restricting her to the sidelines for the rest of the season. Now, she unites with Stephanie White at Indiana, having played her best basketball under the Fever head coach during their time together in Connecticut.

In fact, the 2024 season was the only time she managed a double-digit scoring average, with 10.5 points per game. Tyasha has shot over 38% from behind the arc throughout her WNBA career and will be a valuable rotation option and could act as a cover for Caitlin Clark, resembling a similar outside offensive threat.

The fact that she is an Indiana native and will be returning to her roots could also inspire her to perform to the best of her abilities.

The talent is there, and Stephanie White has been the only one in the WNBA to get that out of her. As the Indiana Fever gear up for a serious title challenge this season, the franchise could use an option like Tyasha, who also has something to prove. The 27-year-old will be up against her former team in the first game itself, as the Fever go up against the Wings in the season opener.

The Indiana Fever’s roster moves hint at guard priority in the WNBA Draft

With the addition of Tyasha Harris, head coach Stephanie White has ensured depth across one to five positions on the floor. However, some key areas need addressing, with the Fever still lacking defensive coverage in the guard role, as well as a scoring forward and a seasoned star to replace Natasha Howard.

However, they can address one of the two problems in the upcoming WNBA Draft. While projections also link them to Madina Okot, Stephanie White could look to add a defensive guard, with the lack of defensive coverage a prominent issue in the Fever roster.

South Carolina’s Raven Johnson is the ideal pick, with the star also winning the SEC Defensive Player of the Year, highlighting her defensive ability. However, there is no guarantee Raven would be available until the 10th pick, which could see the Fever turn to another shining college basketball star, Gabriela Jaquez.

The UCLA Bruins star’s big-game influence shone as she scored 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in their National Championship-winning game against South Carolina. Jaquez is another star lauded for her two-way ability and would not only provide defensive coverage but also an offensive threat, making her a more reliable rotation option.

Again, the UCLA star’s 2025-26 campaign could catapult her beyond Fever’s reach. But there is a general acceptance that the franchise can get either of the two when their pick arrives. If both end up being picked before Fever gets a chance, they should target Serah Williams, another player who has won the Defensive Player of the Year during her college years.

With one defensively able guard, Stephanie White’s Indiana team can add some winning fever at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse this season.
