It kind of came out of nowhere. A full grappling card with some really interesting names has just been announced by Hype Brazil, and trust us when we tell you that it really seems to have materialized out of nowhere. There was no steady buildup, no lengthy promotional campaign, simply a quick reveal Jean Silva will go one-on-one against Chito Vera, and Deiveson Figueiredo will face Raul Rosas Jr., a grappling fight card that immediately got people talking.

And not in a calm, analytical way either. Because when Jean Silva vs. Marlon Vera was announced as a submission-only main event, the reaction isn’t curiosity first—it’s concern. Especially given where both guys are in their careers right now.

‘Lord’ is coming off a statement win over Arnold Allen at UFC 324, which has put him right back in the featherweight title conversation, with some serious call-outs made towards the champion, Alexander Volkanovski. Chito Vera, on the other hand, is hoping to return to winning ways as he’s riding a four-fight losing streak.

Before recently dropping to David Martinez at UFC Mexico City, he suffered losses against Aiemann Zahabi, Deiveson Figueiredo, and Sean O’Malley. So, it was no surprise that with the new fight announcement, the panic started almost instantly.

“RIP Marlon Chito Vera,” one fan wrote, while another didn’t even try to sugarcoat it: “Another L for Chito incoming.” It wasn’t just negativity; it felt like fans were looking at recent form and assuming the worst-case scenario. Jean Silva’s aggressive, finish-hunting style doesn’t scream “safe matchup” for someone already trying to end a losing skid.

So, whether it be MMA or a grappling matchup, fans are already siding with ‘Lord’ on this one. “Lord Silva is gonna humiliate that bum,” a fan wrote. Another added, “Marlon Vera is going to f—– die. 💀

At the same time, there is confusion about the booking itself. Fans questioned how this even came together—active UFC fighters squaring off against each other outside of the promotion, on short notice, and in a completely different format.

“I thought UFC doesn’t let UFC fighters go against each other in these events,” a fan wrote, while another shared the same question, “What happened to no active UFC fighters facing each other?” Some were simply surprised at how quickly the event was organized: “Booking whole a– events on 2 days’ notice is crazy.”

Still, beyond the concerns and the confusion, there’s one thing everyone agrees on: it’s chaotic, it’s unusual, and it’s impossible to ignore. At least not in the way Jean Silva’s title aspirations are getting ignored right now, since Alexander Volkanovski’s team recently rejected a Jean Silva title shot.

Alexander Volkanovski’s coach confirms Jean Silva snub

And that’s the other layer to all of this. Despite all of the buzz around his name lately, it seems that the people who actually decide title shots aren’t listening to Jean Silva’s demands. In fact, Alexander Volkanovski’s camp made this quite clear.

His coach did not simply belittle Jean Silva; he outright dismissed him.

“Jean Silva or whatever his name is, barking like the little dog that he is in the background,” Joe Lopez told Submission Radio. “Trying to make a lot of noise to make himself think he’s the next one. But he’s not deserving.

“There are still Aljo and guys above him. He’s got to earn his spot. Don’t think that because you make a lot of noise, you’re going to get it, because you’re not.”

Now, this puts Jean Silva in a difficult spot. On one hand, ‘Lord’ is staying active, headlining events, and creating noise wherever he goes. On the other hand, the official ladder still has names like Movsar Evloev ahead of him, fighters who have quietly built stronger cases.

So, while Silva is drawing attention outside the Octagon, the title picture inside is moving without him—at least for now.
